San Lorenzo de El Escorial

The hike begins at the Tomillar Restaurant parking lot in San Lorenzo del Escorial. From there, we'll ascend by road to the Luis Ceballos Arboretum. Then, we'll take a dirt track to Pico Abantos, continuing cross-country along a path to the viewpoint with breathtaking views of Madrid and the surrounding area. The route is closed to traffic, though occasionally a car with permission may pass. The hike is moderate with some steep sections, but it's well worth the effort. After that, it's all downhill. The elevation gain is approximately 700 meters.
