π Route description
We'll begin our route in the Casa de Campo Lake area, where we'll join the Madrid Green Ring Cycle Path and then connect with the Colmenar Viejo Cycle Route. The route passes through Cantoblanco, Tres Cantos, and Colmenar Viejo, all of which have commuter rail stations, allowing you to adapt the route, shorten it, or return by train if needed.
Colmenar Viejo, with a great livestock tradition and an interesting historic center, is one of the most representative municipalities of the Sierra de Madrid.
We will visit the Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady, one of Colmenar Viejo's most emblematic monuments. Built between the 15th and 16th centuries with granite from the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains, it harmoniously combines elements of late Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Its imposing tower and, especially, the elegant portico that provides access to the church and protects the magnificent main entrance are particularly noteworthy. The church is a listed Building of Cultural Interest.
A place with great historical and artistic value where we will take a short break to recharge our batteries before starting our return journey.
The return journey will follow the same route back to Casa de Campo.
π΄ββοΈ Come and enjoy a great morning cycling, disconnecting and sharing the route! πΏπͺ
