Riding in a group is one of the best experiences on a bike… if everyone does their part. A poorly maintained bike doesn't just affect you: it disrupts the flow, creates risks, and endangers everyone else. Before you meet up, take 5 minutes to check this list.

Wheels and tires (the first thing to fail)

*Correct pressure according to your weight, terrain and tire type

*Tires without cuts, cracks or bulges

*Valves tightly tightened

*Wheels properly centered, without rubbing against brakes or frame. In a group, a puncture due to incorrect pressure is a loss of time for everyone.

Brakes (non-negotiable)

*They work with a firm touch (not spongy)

*Pills with sufficient material

*Clean discs without strange noises

*Properly adjusted brake levers. If you descend mountain passes in a group with unreliable brakes, you're a problem.

Transmission (to avoid jerking)

*Gears shift smoothly up and down

*Clean and lubricated chain

*It doesn't jump when pedaling hard

*Sprockets and chainrings without strange noises. A faulty gearbox = jerking, sudden braking, and risk behind.

Screws and quick-fits

*Wheels/axles securely tightened

*Sturdy stem and handlebars

*Saddle properly secured (level, height and setback)

*Steel without play. If something moves… it will move at the worst possible moment.

The bare minimum you should wear

*Inner tube (or plugs if you use tubeless tires)

*Pump or CO₂

*Multi-tool

*Mobile phone with battery

Bring some food and enough water. Groups help each other out, yes. But don't be the one who never brings anything.

Before starting with the group

*Physical level appropriate for the departure

*Clear route and duration

*Basic rules for riding in a group assumed

*Please let us know if this is your first time out with this group. Communication prevents surprises and bad vibes.

Clear conclusion: Checking your bike isn't optional; it's part of riding in a group. A well-maintained bike means: More safety, better pace, a better atmosphere, and yes, a better experience for everyone. Connect with cyclists near you.
