From Bicicita we want to send all our support and affection to the people affected by the fires that are affecting the Sierra Oeste of Madrid and different areas of the province of Ávila .

We also want to acknowledge the enormous work being done by firefighters, forest brigades, the UME (Military Emergency Unit), Civil Protection, the Civil Guard, health services and all the people who collaborate to protect the population and our natural environment.

🌫️ Avoid doing outdoor sports

In addition to the danger posed by the flames, the smoke from the fires is deteriorating air quality , even in municipalities located many kilometers from the fire.

Smoke particles can affect the respiratory tract and cause eye and throat irritation, coughing, difficulty breathing, or worsen pre-existing respiratory problems.

During sports practice we breathe with greater intensity and depth, so we inhale a much larger amount of these particles.

Therefore, Bicicita recommends temporarily postponing bike rides, sports outings and any intense outdoor physical activity in the areas of Madrid and Ávila affected by the smoke until the air quality returns to adequate levels.

The mountain will still be there. Your health comes first.

🤝 How can we help?

Do not go to the affected areas to observe the fire, take photographs, or engage in sporting activities.

Avoid unnecessary travel and keep roads and access routes clear for emergency teams.

Share only information from official sources and avoid spreading rumors or unverified posts.

If you wish to help, only follow aid campaigns published by public administrations, Civil Protection, or official organizations. Do not send supplies or volunteer on your own initiative, as uncoordinated aid can hinder the work of emergency services.

❤️ A message for our cycling community

Today, the best course of action is to stay home.

Let's take care of our health, support those affected, and facilitate the work of those fighting the fire.

Out of respect for those affected, for everyone's safety, and for air quality, avoid outdoor sports until the authorities indicate that the situation has improved.

From Bicicita, we send all our support to Madrid, Ávila, and everyone experiencing these difficult times. ❤️🚴
