Are you ready to make your travel companion shine? Let's go!

In today's article, we want to share with you the best way to perform a thorough maintenance and cleaning of your bicycle. By following these tips, your adventure companion will be gleaming and feel brand new before every ride. Proper maintenance not only helps keep your bike in top condition but also allows you to fully enjoy every route you take. Discover how to leave your bike spotless and ready to face any challenge. How to wash your bike? Find a pleasant spot for your spa session. A patio, a garage, or even the sidewalk in front of your house. Your bike deserves a VIP treatment.

01 When cleaning your bicycle, it's important to avoid using a pressure washer. Although it might be tempting (pressure washers at gas stations are prohibited), pressurized water can penetrate the gears and remove lubricants, which could lead to rust. Additionally, pressurized water can force mud and dirt into the bearings, damaging them over time. Instead, we recommend using a gentle hose to rinse your bicycle and avoid these problems.

02 The next step is to use a chain degreaser and a stiff-bristled brush for a thorough cleaning. Apply the degreaser to the chain and use the brush to remove any accumulated dirt or residue. For an even better result, you can remove the quick-release link and clean the chain separately. This will give you additional access to clean the derailleur and shifter. Don't forget to thoroughly clean the cassette as well, since dirt can accumulate and affect shifting performance.

03 Now use a degreaser, preferably an eco-friendly one, and spray it all over the bike's surface. The degreaser will help remove dirt, dust, and grease buildup on different parts of the bike. Be sure to apply the degreaser to areas like the chain, gears, brakes, and exposed metal parts. At the same time, use an environmentally friendly product.

04 Rinse with water

5. Once you've applied the degreaser and removed the toughest dirt, it's time to give it a thorough scrub with soapy water. You can use a sponge or a soft-bristled brush specifically designed for cleaning bicycles. Dip it in soapy water and gently scrub the entire surface of the bike, paying special attention to the dirtiest or hard-to-reach areas. This part might be a little uncomfortable, but it's essential to ensure your bike is completely clean.

6. After scrubbing, rinse quickly with clean water to remove any soap residue. Rinse your bike with clean water to say goodbye to that soap scum. And yes, you can put on your favorite song in the background.

7. Afterward, it's important to dry and lubricate the chain carefully to avoid splashing on the brake disc or pads. Lubricating immediately after washing is important to prevent rust on the chain and the rest of the drivetrain. Furthermore, allowing the lubricant to dry and adhere will help prevent splashing caused by centrifugal force when the wheel is spinning. It's important to let the lubricant settle before riding. This will allow the oil to penetrate the chain links and form a proper protective layer. Use a cloth as a protective screen between the chain and the brake system components. Apply the chain lubricant evenly, making sure to cover all the links. Remember that it's crucial to prevent the lubricant from coming into contact with the brake system components, as this can seriously affect their performance.

8. Once you've lubricated the chain, you can use a specific bicycle polishing spray or simply dry off any remaining water with a soft cloth. This will help give your bike a shiny finish and remove any residual moisture. Materials needed: Stiff bristle brush. Soft bristle brush or sponge. Bucket. Hose. Soft cloth. Chain lubricant. Neutral or bicycle-specific soap. Degreaser spray. Optional: Chain polish spray and chain link remover.

In short, performing this washing and lubrication routine after every bike ride will keep your bike in perfect condition, ensure quiet rides, and guarantee smooth operation. Keep your bike ready like new. And there you have it, a spa treatment for your bike!
